Supporting Cast : Ajay Dhishan, Lijomol Jose, Karunaas, Kavya Anil, Sakthi
Release Date : June 19, 2026
Producers : Ramanjaneyulu Javvaji (Servanth Ram Creations) in association with Vijay Antony Film Corporation
Vanda Devullu Movie Plot :
Billed as a "family biopic", the movie is set in a conservative, rooted village. While the director-actor duo's previous film Bichagadu focused on a son treating his mother like a goddess, Vanda Devullu takes a starkly different approach by exploring a son coming to terms with seeing his mother simply as a human being with her own flaws, unfulfilled choices, and vulnerabilities. The first half details a mother’s endless sacrifices for her children, while the second half flips the perspective to show the children’s efforts and sacrifices for their mother.
Vanda Devullu Movie Review :
Hi guys… We often say that a mother is like a goddess. But do we really see her as a human being? That’s the question raised by Vanda Devullu. Reuniting after Bichagadu, Vijay Antony and director Sasi have teamed up once again for this film. Did it live up to the audience’s expectations? Let’s find out!
First, let’s talk about the story. Vasavi is a woman who dedicates her entire life to raising her two children after her husband passes away. She endures society’s judgments and the indifference of relatives, all while working hard to give her children a better future. But at one point, she decides that she, too, deserves a life of her own and wants to remarry.
That’s where the real story begins. How do her children react to this decision? How does society respond? And how does Vijay Antony’s character, Edukondalu, enter her life? The film revolves around these questions.
The biggest strength of this movie is that it portrays a mother not as a goddess, but as a human being. We often assume that mothers have no desires of their own and that their lives should revolve entirely around their children. But the film beautifully and emotionally highlights that they, too, experience loneliness and long for companionship.
Coming to the performances, this film is undoubtedly a one-woman show by Swasika. Her performance is exceptional. She portrays the struggles of a mother and a single woman with remarkable naturalness and sincerity.
Although Vijay Antony has limited screen time, his character plays a crucial role in the story. He delivers a calm and mature performance. Ajay Dhishan, who plays the elder son, also leaves a strong impression.
The first half feels a bit slow, and some scenes give a sense of repetition. Those expecting the level of emotions or twists seen in *Bichagadu* might end up slightly disappointed.
However, the second half transforms into a deeply emotional ride. The scenes between Vasavi and Edukondalu are especially heart-touching. The way the film conveys its message with a touch of humour, rather than through preachy lectures, works very well.
The music, background score, and cinematography effectively support the story. Director Sasi presents this narrative in a simple and honest manner that will connect well with family audiences.
Overall, Vanda Devullu is not a commercial entertainer. It is an emotion-driven family drama that encourages viewers to reflect on mothers and their lives.
As for my rating: 3.25 out of 5 stars.
If you enjoy emotional family dramas, this movie is definitely worth a watch.
