I Nobody Movie Review :
let's talk about I Nobody, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
This movie may not appeal to everyone. Mollywood is known for making simple, grounded films like this, so it'll be interesting to see how Telugu audiences receive it.
Coming to the story, Rajiv and his wife Meera work in different banks, and they have two young daughters. One day, three robbers, along with a police officer, plan a bank robbery. They successfully steal ₹17 crore. At the same time, they abduct Rajiv from the bank, covering his face and forcing him into their car.
While driving away, they decide to leave Rajiv on the road. However, Rajiv fights back, causing the car to overturn. The three robbers die in the accident. But here's the twist—the ₹17 crore they had stolen goes missing.
The police immediately begin suspecting Rajiv, believing that he somehow took the money. From that point onward, they constantly interrogate him and put him through severe mental torture. Along with the police, the media and society also start targeting him, harassing and blackmailing him, all because of the missing money.
Eventually, in order to escape this endless torture, Rajiv orchestrates the kidnapping of his own daughter. By doing so, he diverts everyone's attention away from the missing money and towards the kidnapping case. The rest of the story is about how he manages to regain peace and stability in his life.
Speaking about the movie, the political drama towards the end goes a little overboard. The film feels engaging at times, but it also drags in several places. It doesn't really create that "wow" moment by the end. This isn't an edge-of-the-seat thriller; the story is fairly straightforward. Those are the film's main negatives.
However, if you look at the story through the eyes of a middle-class employee like Rajiv, it portrays a larger-than-life struggle against society and the system.
Now, let's talk about the positives.
The Telugu dubbing is quite good. Jakes Bejoy's background score is absolutely outstanding. The trending rap-style background music, presented in multiple languages throughout the film, is super impressive and really elevates several scenes. The production values and cinematography are both excellent, and I personally had a great theatrical experience.
That said, if the runtime had been trimmed a little, many of the film's weak points would have been less noticeable. Because of the lengthy runtime, it struggles to maintain its momentum throughout.
There are still some genuinely interesting sequences, especially the bus fight scene, which is elevated brilliantly by the background score. Those moments definitely deserve appreciation.
Overall, it's a decent one-time watch.
Prithviraj Sukumaran has acted in many interesting Malayalam films. If you have the time, I'd definitely recommend checking them out. I watched most of them during the COVID period, and many of them were worth watching.
