Story :
Avika Gor plays Neha, a young woman who loses her parents at an early age. Her uncle takes her in and raises her as his own daughter. However, his son Karthik develops an unhealthy obsession with Neha from childhood.

Neha, on the other hand, falls in love with a young man named Gautham. When Karthik discovers this, his mental instability grows even worse. Circumstances take an unexpected turn, and Neha is eventually forced to marry Karthik.

From that moment, her life becomes a living hell.

How far do Karthik's psychological and physical abuses go in the name of marital rights? What consequences does his psychopathic mentality lead to? And what is the bloody climax that unfolds in the end? The rest of the story revolves around these questions.

Review :
Director Pranav Swarup chooses a sensitive subject and attempts to highlight the importance of consent in marriage.
However, the first half spends a considerable amount of time focusing on Karthik's psychotic behavior. As a result, several scenes feel repetitive, giving the impression that the story is moving in circles rather than progressing.
The film gains momentum after the interval. The conflict intensifies, and the emotional tension between the characters becomes much more engaging.
The movie also makes a sincere effort to portray the suffering women endure in toxic relationships. Some scenes are likely to resonate strongly with female viewers.

Performances :
Nandu delivers a convincing performance as the psychotic husband. His expressions, body language, and aggressive behavior effectively bring the character to life.
Avika Gor shines in the emotional sequences. Her portrayal of a woman living in constant fear is both believable and impactful.
Shivaji Raja appears in a familiar role and performs well, while Ravi Teja Mahadasyam does justice to his character.

Technical Aspects :
The background score enhances the impact of several key scenes, and the cinematography complements the dark mood of the story.
That said, a sharper screenplay could have made the film even more effective and engaging.

A small film made on a budget of just ₹ 7 crore has now shocked everyone by grossing over ₹1,600 crore worldwide. And the most surprising part? It wasn’t directed by a famous Hollywood filmmaker—it was made by a YouTuber!

So what makes Obsession so special? Why has it generated so much hype? Or is it just another overrated sensation created by social media? Let’s find out.

Story :
The film follows Bear, a college student who works at a music shop and lives an ordinary life. He has been in love with a girl named Nikki for a long time but never has the courage to confess his feelings.
One day, he comes across a mysterious object called “One Wish.” Using it, he wishes that Nikki would fall in love with him.
Up to that point, it feels like a typical love story.
But then...
The wish comes true.
Nikki begins to love him.
Except it isn’t love.
It’s obsession.

Her affection slowly transforms into a terrifying fixation, and from that moment onward, the movie shifts into an entirely different gear.
Normally, when we think of supernatural thrillers, we imagine ghosts, jump scares, and dark shadows. But Obsession is not that kind of film.

There may not be any ghosts in this movie.
Yet some of its scenes are more frightening than ghosts themselves.
The way the heroine’s behavior gradually changes creates an incredible sense of discomfort and tension for the audience.

The first twenty minutes move at a fairly slow pace, and some viewers may even find them boring.
But the moment Bear’s wish comes true...
The film turns into a nonstop roller-coaster ride.
Every scene carries the feeling that something is about to go terribly wrong.

And the best part?
Not once does the movie feel familiar or predictable.
At a time when many films follow well-worn formulas, **Obsession** delivers a genuinely fresh experience.
The interval sequence is outstanding.
A story that seems calm and controlled suddenly delivers a massive shock.
As for the climax, the less said, the better.
Because the final fifteen minutes are completely unpredictable.

Performances :

Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette both deliver excellent performances.
In particular, the heroine’s performance is the film’s biggest strength.
There’s one scene where the lighting focuses solely on her eyes.
In that moment, without any makeup tricks or CGI, her character appears genuinely terrifying.
It’s a perfect example of the director’s vision.

Direction :

Special mention must go to Curry Barker.
Starting out as a YouTuber and going on to create a film that has become a worldwide talking point is no small achievement.
Obsession once again proves that strong content can win audiences over, regardless of budget.

Final Verdict :

If you enjoy thriller films...
If you like psychological stories that start slowly and gradually take over your mind...
Then Obsession deserves a place on your watchlist.

However, family audiences should be cautious, as the film contains significant mature content and several objectionable scenes.

And what if the very words that society casually uses as insults— Maa-Behen — are turned into actual characters and made the heroes of the story?

That's exactly the premise of Netflix's dark comedy crime thriller, Maa Behen.

So, is this film genuinely bold and entertaining, or is the concept more interesting than the execution? Let's find out.

The story unfolds in Adarsh Colony, a middle-class housing society. Despite its name, the residents seem more interested in judging others than being "ideal." They're constantly keeping tabs on who is doing what, where they're going, and how they're living their lives.

In this colony lives Rekha, a single mother played by Madhuri Dixit. Her daughter Jaya is played by Triptii Dimri, while Sushma is portrayed by Dharna Durga.

After an unexpected incident, the three women find themselves trapped in a major crisis. Their desperate attempts to get out of that situation form the central plot of the film.

As the story progresses like a crime thriller, it also explores how society constantly judges women and places them under scrutiny.

The satire on middle-class housing society culture also works well in several places. The gossip-loving aunties, the neighbors who engage in unnecessary moral policing, and the society that thrives on character assassination all feel highly relatable.

However, this is also where the film's biggest problem begins.
The movie tries to do three things at once:
* Social commentary
* Crime mystery
* Full-fledged comedy

Unfortunately, it struggles to balance all three genres effectively. At times, the film feels confused about what it wants to be. A scene may begin with serious tension, suddenly shift into comedy, and then become emotional moments later. Because of these abrupt tonal changes, it can be difficult for audiences to stay fully invested.

Talking about Madhuri Dixit's performance, her screen presence remains fantastic even today.
Triptii Dimri handles her role well, and Dharna Durga also delivers a decent performance.
That said, Ravi Kishan feels underutilized. His character had much more potential than what ultimately appears on screen.

Technically, the film is polished. The production design, cinematography, and background score all complement the story's mood effectively. However, the screenplay occasionally feels stretched and sluggish.

Overall, Maa Behen is a dark comedy thriller built around a unique concept.

But because of the inconsistency in its screenplay and tone, it falls short of becoming a truly great film. Still, if you enjoy dark comedies, female-led crime dramas, and social satires, this is a film worth watching at least once.

Review :
How far would a son go for his father?
Why would a man who had given up a life of crime and wanted to start fresh be forced to rob banks again?
Is he a Robin Hood... or just a criminal?
Blending emotion, a heist thriller, and social commentary, Dhanush's "Kara" attempts to answer these questions.
So, is this film truly worth watching, or does it end up being just another routine revenge drama? Let's find out.

Story :
Karaswamy, a thief, falls in love with Malli and decides to leave his criminal life behind after marrying her. Together, they dream of running a small hotel and living a peaceful life. However, to raise the money needed for this new beginning, he must return to his hometown and meet his father after many years. A series of events there changes his life forever. After losing his father, Karaswamy returns to his old ways and begins targeting banks one after another.

But why is he robbing banks?
What is the real motive behind these robberies?
That forms the central plot of the film.

How is the movie?

Director Vignesh Raja doesn't treat this as just another heist thriller. Instead, he tries to ground the story in the emotional bond between a father and son. To be honest, that's also the film's biggest strength.

The father-son scenes in the first half feel natural and emotionally effective. The chemistry between Dhanush and K.S. Ravikumar works exceptionally well.

The way the film incorporates farmers' issues through the backdrop of the 1991 Gulf War is also quite interesting.

The first half remains engaging throughout. The hero's backstory, family emotions, village portions, and the setup for the bank robberies all draw the audience into the narrative. The bank robbery sequence near the interval is genuinely gripping.

The problems begin in the second half.
After such a strong emotional setup, you expect the screenplay to become more intense. Unfortunately, that's where the film loses some momentum.
DSP Bharathan's investigation track isn't particularly exciting, and several episodes involving the villain fail to leave the impact you would expect.
The tension and unpredictability essential to a heist thriller are missing in certain portions.

That said, the film never completely loses its footing.
From the pre-climax onward, it regains momentum. The series of robberies carried out by the hero, the revelation of the real reason behind them, and the emotional payoff in the climax work quite well.

Final Verdict :
Kara doesn't tell a completely new story.

However, it presents a familiar narrative with strong emotions, solid performances, and an engaging first half.
Had the second half been stronger, this could have become a truly memorable film.
Even so, fans of Dhanush, lovers of emotional dramas, and viewers looking for a heist thriller should definitely give it a try.

My Rating: 3.25/5

Kara is remembered less as a story about a bank robber and more as a moving tale of the bond between a father and son that steals your heart.
