Review :
One accusation is enough to destroy a person's life... but what if that accusation isn't true? What if a celebrity is forced to become a prisoner? That's the question that *Bandar*, directed by Anurag Kashyap, asks in a brutally honest and deeply uncomfortable way.

So, how is the film? Is this truly the best performance of Bobby Deol's career, or has Anurag Kashyap once again tested the audience's patience? Let's find out in this review.

Bandar revolves around Samar Mehra. Once a popular singer-actor, Samar is now a 50-year-old man struggling with a declining career and living a lonely life. Looking for companionship, he turns to dating apps and meets Gayatri, a healer. What begins as a promising relationship gradually turns toxic.

As Gayatri becomes increasingly possessive, Samar decides to distance himself from her and cuts off all contact. However, Gayatri is unable to accept the rejection. After seeing Samar with his girlfriend Khushi, the situation deteriorates further. Eventually, she accuses him of rape.

That single accusation changes Samar's life completely.
From this point onward, the film transforms into a prison drama.

But this is not the kind of jail drama we're used to seeing. Anurag Kashyap makes no attempt to entertain the audience. Instead, he presents prison life in its most humiliating and horrifying form, hitting viewers with a harsh dose of reality.

The humiliation, fear, and helplessness Samar experiences in prison become the film's true story.

Some scenes are genuinely disturbing. Samar's struggle to survive in prison and his fight to maintain even the most basic human dignity can leave audiences emotionally drained.

What makes this entire experience believable is Bobby Deol's performance.
Honestly, there's little doubt that this is the finest performance of his career.

Without ever resorting to overacting, he conveys immense pain through silence and restraint. His transformation from a successful celebrity to a completely broken man is portrayed with remarkable subtlety.

The reason we feel sympathy for Samar throughout the film is largely because of Bobby's acting.

Sanya Malhotra is also excellent. As Samar's sister, who fights tirelessly for him, she brings significant emotional weight to the story. Sapna Pabbi's character is equally interesting. Gayatri initially appears vulnerable, but later reveals entirely different shades, making the character far more complex. Her performance is impressive as well.

Saba Azad has limited screen time but leaves an impact. Indrajith Sukumaran, appearing as a prison inmate, also delivers a strong screen presence.

As for my final rating... 3.5 / 5
