एक घने जंगल में एक छोटी सी चिड़िया रहती थी। वह दिखने में भले ही छोटी थी, लेकिन उसकी सोच बहुत बड़ी और समझदारी से भरी थी।

लेकिन उसी समय देखो, वही छोटी चिड़िया अपनी चोंच में कुछ बूंद पानी लेकर आग पर डाल रही थी।
सभी जानवर हँसने लगे—


“अरे चिड़िया! तेरी चोंच की बूंदों से आग क्या बुझ जाएगी?”


चिड़िया ने शांत होकर कहा:


“शायद नहीं… लेकिन मैं अपनी तरफ से प्रयास ज़रूर कर रही हूँ।
अगर हम सब मिलकर कोशिश करें, तो बड़ी से बड़ी समस्या भी हल हो सकती है।”


उसकी ये बात जंगल के सभी जानवरों के दिल को छू गई।
धीरे-धीरे सब जानवर पानी लाने लगे। मिलकर मेहनत की, और आख़िरकार आग बुझ गई।


जंगल के सभी जानवरों ने मान लिया कि—


“छोटी सी कोशिश भी बड़े बदलाव ला सकती है।”

बहुत समय पहले जंगल में एक शक्तिशाली शेर रहता था। एक दिन वह गहरी नींद में था। तभी एक छोटा सा चूहा खेलते-खेलते उसकी पीठ पर चढ़ गया।
शेर की नींद खुली, और उसने चूहे को अपने बड़े पंजों में दबोच लिया।

चूहा डरते-डरते बोला:

थोड़ी ही देर में शेर आज़ाद हो गया। उसने चूहे का धन्यवाद किया और समझ गया कि —
कभी भी किसी को छोटा या कमजोर नहीं समझना चाहिए।
