⁣मंद बुद्धि कहकर सभी जिस लड़के को चिढ़ाते थे, उसका नाम था रवि। गाँव के बच्चे उसे पढ़ाई में कमजोर समझकर अक्सर उसका मज़ाक उड़ाते थे।
रवि चुपचाप सब सहता, लेकिन उसके अंदर एक बात हमेशा गूंजती—
“मैं भी कुछ कर सकता हूँ।”

एक दिन स्कूल में विज्ञान प्रदर्शनी की घोषणा हुई। सभी तेज़ छात्र उत्साह से तैयारी करने लगे। रवि भी भाग लेना चाहता था, लेकिन उसके मन में डर था कि लोग हँसेंगे।
शाम को उसने अपनी दादी से बात की। दादी ने कहा—
“बुद्धि जन्म से नहीं, मेहनत से बढ़ती है। कोशिश करोगे तो कर दिखाओगे।”

दादी की बात ने रवि में हिम्मत भर दी। वह रोज़ देर रात तक मेहनत करने लगा। उसने कचरे से एक छोटा-सा पानी शुद्ध करने वाला मॉडल बनाया।
प्रदर्शनी के दिन सभी रवि का मॉडल देखकर चौंक गए। उसके सरल लेकिन उपयोगी प्रयोग को सबसे ज्यादा सराहा गया।

अंत में रवि को मिला पहला पुरस्कार।
जो लोग उसे “मंद बुद्धि” कहते थे, वही लोग अब उसकी तारीफ़ कर रहे थे।
