⁣ઘેલા સોમનાથ મહાદેવ મંદિર રાજકોટ જીલ્લાના જસદણ તાલુકામાં આવેલું ઐતિહાસિક મંદિર છે.

આ મંદિરનો ઇતિહાસ 15મી સદી આસપાસનો છે. વેરાવળ પ્રભાસ પાટણ પાસે આવેલા સોમનાથ મંદિરને લુંટવા તથા મંદિરનો નાશ કરવા માટે એ સમયે મહમદ ગઝનીએ બે-ત્રણ વાર હુમલો કર્યો હતો.પરંતુ તેને તેમાં નિષ્ફળતા મળી હતી. એ સમયે જુનાગઢ ઉપર કુંવર મહિપાલની કુંવરી મીનળદેવી કે જેઓ ભોળાનાથના ભક્ત હતા અને મુસ્લિમ રાજાઓથી બચવા તેમણે શિવલિંગની સ્થાપનાં ભુગર્ભમાં કરી હતી અને ત્યાં જ પૂજા કરતા હતાં. આમ મીનળદેવીને મહાદેવમાં અપાર શ્ર્ધ્ધા હતી.

ઇ.સ.1457ની વાત છે જ્યારે સોમનાથ મંદિર પર આક્રમણ થયું ત્યારે મહાદેવજીએ સપનામાં આવીને મીનળદેવીને કહ્યું કે મને પાલખીમાં લઇ જાવ. પરંતુ 1457ની આસપાસ ગુજરાત ઉપર મહંમદ જાફરની આણ વર્તાતી હતી. તેણે ભુગભર્ગમાં જ્યોતિર્લિંગ છે તેની જાણ થતાં જ આક્રમણ કર્યુ, પરંતુ તેની કુંવરી હુરલ મીનળદેવી સાથે મળી ગઇ અને તેણે મીનળદેવીને તેનાં પિતાશ્રીનાં મનસુબાની જાણ કરી દીધી હતી. એજ સમયે મીનળદેવી સ્વપ્નમાં આવ્યું અને તે શિવની પાલખી અને ઘેલો વાણિયો પાલખી લઇને ત્યાંથી ભાગી નીકળ્યા. આમ સોમનાથ દાદાની પાલખી દુર નીકળી ગયા પછી જ્યારે સુલતાનને માલુમ પડ્યું કે શિવલિંગ તો સોમનાથમાં રહ્યું જ નથી. તેથી તેણે તેનું સૈન્ય સોમનાથ દાદાની પાલખી પાછળ દોડાવ્યું જયાં જયાં ગામ આવે ત્યાં તે ગામનાં ક્ષત્રિયો અને બ્રાહ્મણો શિવલિંગ બચાવવા સૈન્ય સાથે યુધ્ધે ચડયા. આમ શિવજીની પાલખી સોમનાથથી આશરે અઢીસો કિલોમીટર દૂર જસદણ તાલુકાનાં કાળાસર અને મોઢુકા ગામની વચ્ચે આવેલ નદી કિનારા સુધી પહોંચ્યું અહીં શિવલિંગની સ્થાપનાં થઇ. સાથો સાથ આ મંદિરની સામે જ ડુંગર ઉપર મીનળદેવીએ સમાધિ લીધી.

આ યુધ્ધ દરમ્યાન ઘેલા વાણીયાનું મસ્તક કપાઇ જવા છતાં તે મુગલ સૈનિકો સામે સાત દિવસ સુધી લડ્યો. સોમનાથ દાદાના શિવલિંગનાં રક્ષણ કાજે આવેલ અનેક લોકો માર્યા ગયા હતા. છેલ્લે જ્યારે યુધ્ધમાં મહમદ જાફરના સૈનિકો બધાં જ શિવભક્તોને મોતને ઘાટ ઉતાર્યા ત્યારે મહમદ જાફરે શિવલિંગ પર તલવારનાં ઘા મારીને શિવલિંગને ખંડીત કરવાનો પ્રયાસ કર્યો. પરંતુ જેવો તેણે શિવલિંગ પર તલવારનો ઘા માર્યો કે શિવલિંગમાંથી ભમરા નીકળ્યા. તેણે મહમંદ જાફર અને તેના સૈન્યને ખતમ કરી નાંખ્યું. સોમનાથ દાદાનાં શિવલિંગને બચાવવા ઘેલા વાણિયાનું મસતક ધડથી અલગ હોવા છતા જાફરનાં સૈન્ય સામે લડયા હતા. તેથી મંદિરનું નામ ઘેલા સોમનાથ રાખવામાં આવ્યું. તેમજ નદીનું નામ પણ ઘેલો નદી રાખવામાં આવ્યું. આ યુધ્ધમાં હજારો બ્રાહ્મણો મરાયા હતા. આમ આ જગ્યા અતિ પૌરાણિક છે.

આ આર્કિયોલોજિકલ સર્વે ઓફ ઈન્ડિયાની યાદીમાં પણ સ્થાન ધરાવતું ઐતિહાસિક મહાદેવનું મંદિર છે.
ગઢ જેવી રચનાની વચ્ચે ઊભેલા આ ઘેલા સોમનાથનાં મંદીરનું સંચાલન અત્યારે ટ્રસ્ટ હસ્તક છે. સમયની સાથે આ મંદીરનો વિકાસ થતો જાય છે. યાત્રિકોને રહેવા માટેની ધર્મશાળાઓ પણ આવેલી છે. મંદીરની બાજુમાં ગૌશાળા છે, જેમાં ગાયોનો નિભાવ થાય છે.
ઘેલાસોમનાથ મહાદેવ ના દર્શન કરવા માટે જો તમારે મંદિર ના ગર્ભગૃહ માં જવું હોય તો ફરજીયાત તમારે ધોતી પહેરવી પડે અને સાથે જ જળા અભિષેક કરવો હોય તો મંદિરનાં ટ્રસ્ટ દ્વારા શુદ્ધ પાણી પણ રાખવામાં આવે છે.

શ્રાવણ માસ દરમિયાન ભગવાન શંકરદાદાનાં દર્શને લોકોનો ઘણો મોટો સમુદાય અહીં એકત્ર થાય છે. અને શ્રાવણી અમાસના દિવસે અહીં મેળો પણ ભરાય છે.

રહેવાની વ્યવસ્થા
આમ તો અમદાવાદ કે રાજકોટથી એક દિવસમાં દર્શન કરીને પાછા ફરી શકાય છે પરંતુ જો રોકાવું હોય તો મંદિરની ધર્મશાળામાં રોકાઇ શકો છો જેનો મોબાઇલ નંબર +91 99799 24986 છે. અહીં એસી અને નોન-એસી રૂમ ઉપલબ્ધ છે.

જો રાજકોટથી આવો તો સેન્ટ્રલ બસ સ્ટેન્ડથી 80 કિ.મી. દૂર છે.
અમદાવાદથી (વાયા બાવળા, બગોદરા, પાળીયાદ, વિંછીયા) 190 કિ.મી. દૂર છે.
