यह पूर्वी भारत का सबसे बड़ा बौद्ध मठ है।
इस मठ का उद्घाटन दलाई लामा ने 2010 में किया था।
यह भारत भर के बौद्ध भिक्षुओं के लिए एक निवास और शिक्षण केंद्र के रूप में कार्य करता है।
इस क्षेत्र को अक्सर "ओडिशा का मिनी तिब्बत" कहा जाता है, क्योंकि यहां तिब्बती शरणार्थियों की अच्छी खासी बस्ती है।
