Kangleipak, the ancient name of Manipur, holds a rich mythology rooted in Meitei cosmology and royal chronicles. According to legends recorded in the Puya, the land emerged through the will of Atiya Guru Sidaba, the supreme creator. Seven Salai clans were formed to maintain harmony among humans, nature, and spirits. Mythical dragons, ancestors, and sacred mountains shape its sacred geography. Kings were believed to rule by divine mandate, linking heaven and earth. These myths preserve identity, moral values, and the spiritual history of Kangleipak. They continue guiding rituals, festivals, oral traditions, and collective memory for generations today across the valley.
