Did you know the world’s first working submarine was built more than 400 years ago?
In 1620, Dutch inventor
Cornelis Drebbel
created the first successful submarine.
He was an engineer from
Netherlands.
This wooden submarine could travel about 4–5 meters underwater and was powered by people rowing paddles inside.
That small invention later became the beginning of modern submarines used around the world today.
