This revolutionary machine was later used in the factory of General Motors in 1961. It could lift heavy metal parts and do dangerous work that was risky for humans.
The invention of Unimate started the modern robotics era. Today robots are used in factories, hospitals, space missions and even in our homes.

But the beginning of rocket technology started almost 800 years ago in China.
Chinese soldiers and inventors created a weapon powered by gunpowder called the Fire Arrow.
It was a wooden arrow with a small rocket attached to the back.
When ignited, it would fly through the air with fire and smoke.

⁣The first airplane crash in history happened in 1908 at Fort Myer, Virginia, USA. During a demonstration flight by the Wright Brothers, the aircraft’s propeller broke, causing the plane to crash.
Orville Wright survived with injuries, but U.S. Army officer Thomas Selfridge tragically lost his life, becoming the first person to die in an airplane crash.
This accident led to major improvements in aviation safety and changed the future of air travel.
